To Members of the Radiation Community:
The Officers of the International Radiation Commission invite and welcome proposals
from the radiation community to host the 2012 International Radiation Symposium.
Proposals are not limited to IRC members, but may be made by any scientist
recognized in the field of radiation research.
The location of the IRS has rotated among the Americas, Europe, and the
Middle East–Asia–Pacific regions, with the most recent held in Brazil,
and the one before that in South Korea.
Though we particularly look for proposals from the European and African sector,
bid proposals from any geographic area are encouraged.
Notice of intent to propose due 1 March 2010.
Venue proposals must be presented at the upcoming 2010 IRC Business
Meeting in Bremen, Germany, tentatively scheduled for 22 July.
Advance copies of proposals must be submitted to Robert Cahalan by 15 April 2010 in order
for the Officers to request any additional information, if needed, from proposers.
View or download a general outline for a bid proposal
A proposal should include:
(1) Suggested colleagues and a lead scientist to comprise the Local Organizing Committee (LOC)
(2) Rationale for the venue location
(3) Conference environment
(4) Estimated budget
(5) Sponsors/partnerships
If you are interested in proposing, contact the Officers for more information.
Questions are welcomed. Contact: Bob Cahalan, IRC President 2008-2012

The 3rd Asian-Pacific Radiation Symposium (APRS) will be held in Seoul, Korea from August 26 to 28, 2010. The aims of this symposium are to promote scientific research related to atmospheric radiation in the Asia-Pacific region and collaboration among the scientists, and to encourage young scientists in this region.
Sessions: This is the solicitation of the paper submission for the 3rd APRS thus organized. We welcome submission of abstracts in following areas:
(1) Interactions of radiation with clouds, aerosols and their climate impact
(2) Ground-based, aircraft and satellite remote sensing of clouds, aerosols, trace gases and surface properties
(3) Observational and theoretical studies of Earth's radiation budget
(4) Advanced radiation parameterizations in numerical models
(5) Observational and theoretical studies including nonspherical particle scattering and 3-D radiative transfer
(6) Others
How to submit: A one-page abstract can be electronically submitted to the first convenor for the session of interest by using an email address to be provided at a later time.
Submission deadline: April 30, 2010
